Villa Feriani

Villa Feriani, an elegant example of a Veneto villa, is located in Colzé, a few kilometres from the centre of Montegalda.

The Villa was built in the second half of the 17th century on a previous 15th century building. The exposed brick arches of the previous 15th century building are still well preserved and can be seen in the colonnade.

On the façade, you can still see the crests of the three families that owned the Villa over the centuries: a rampant sow represents the Scroffa family, a lion with a thistle between its paws is the symbol of the Garzadori family and, finally, a bouquet of roses is the crest of the Feriani family.

The park contains a chapel dedicated to Santa Maria built towards the end of the 17th century. This oratory is in the Baroque style on an octagonal plan. The façade has a triangular pediment with an angel holding a cross in the centre and two side angels. The stone angels are attributed to the workshop of the Vicenza sculptor Orazio Marinali. The three sides of the oratory, also visible from the street, are decorated with garlands of stone flowers and fruit.

Inside the oratory, you can see the main altar, with sculptures attributed to Pietro Cavaliere, and a small altar on the left side with an image of the Virgin, consecrated in 1711, the work of Orazio Marinali.

During the revolutionary upheavals of 1848, the church was desecrated by passing Austrian troops. Later, Chiara Lupini Feriani had it rebuilt.
